Mahendra Kapoor

(January 9, 1934 – September 27, 2008)

Mujhe bhi log kehte hain, ki yeh jalve paraaye hain
Mere hamraah bhi rusvaaiyaan hain mere maajhi ki -2
Tumhaare saath bhi guzri hui raaton ke saaye hain
Chalo ek baar phir se..

Taarruf rog ho jaaye to usko bhoolnaa behtar
Taalluk bojh ban jaaye to usko todnaa achchha
Voh afsaana jise anjaam tak laana na ho mumkin -2
Use ek khoobsoorat mod dekar chhodna achchha
Chalo ek baar phir se..

Great Singer. Great Song. May god rest his soul in peace.

The Song Quiz #1

June 22, 2008

I wanted to blog about my appraisal rating and my dissatisfaction towards it, but couldnt quite make it. I should write it when I will get my thoughts together. Life seems to be strolling in small lazy steps. Every human cannot be a sprinter. I am not sure how many of you agree with it, but even a single person shares the same thought, I would be more than happy. I am not a laidback kind.

Lets start with what is there above in the title. My mobile’s 2GB card is full of old songs. The latest one that i have is from the movie Border. And my earphone is plugged most of the time. While listening to an oldy, it suddenly clicked that I should start a song quiz where I will give ‘antara‘ of a song and you(there are very few readers of my blog) will reply with the ‘mukhada’ of the song, and the singer and the movie(only if you know).

Here goes the first one

‘Masoom nazar se teer chala, bismil ko bismil aur bana…’

Your turn now.

Yes, Yes Yes, I know I am a laidback person.

The Concert

December 4, 2007

Sometimes work and weekdays could be more relaxing than the weekends. You wake up, get ready, come to office, do nothing, leave office and then sleep. This is my daily routine in the weekdays. What do I do on weekends? I get up, dont brush my teeth, smokes, wash my clothes, recieve a few dozen calls, visit property dealers, smoke, ask them for a 3 BHK flat, see few flats, decline them or get declined by the landlord, smoke more, come to home, smoke, sleep, eat, go to CP, meet old friends, smoke, booze, smoke, come home and then sleep.

You, yourself could make out how busy I could get on weekends. And this weekend was busier than usual.

Ashit Chakravarty(one of my only two college friends) called me after a very long time. He wanted to meet me at CP. He has some plans of watching Indian Ocean performing live at SAARC Band Festival at Central Park, CP.

Well the problem was not that he called me at 5:30pm and wanted to meet me there at 7:00pm. The problem was that I have still not washed my clothes. I didnt know why and for what reasons I told yes to him. I told him and I will leave my house at 6:15pm and will catch him by 7:30 pm.

In the next 30 minutes, I acted like a fully automatic IFB washing machine and was through with the job. Now, there was another problem. I didnt have a dry clean underwear by then. So I had to continue with my overnight boxers. Apologies.

In the next one hour, I left my place, and reached CP. Aditya was already with me and in CP we met Gopi. By that time, Ashit C has already reached the venue and gave his position so we could reach him.

There was a medium crowd at the ground. Any Indian band called THE EAST INDIA COMPANY was playing some cover versions of Indian Sufi Music. They were not bad.

We have already confirmed that there is one more band’s performance between the current one and INDIAN OCEAN. We could do nothing but wait. We waited.

The band was some Bhutanese band. I couldnt understand what was their name and what they sung for first 20 minutes. Later on they started singing Piya Re( by Nusrat F. A. Khan) and some other Indian film songs. That was much better.

Finally there performance got over. And Indian Ocean took the stage on.

The goose bumps increased with every song they played.

Now, there was something in the air as they played, that was making people behave like I-am-down-with-a-khambha-and-half-Kgs-of-Ganja-and-few-snake-bites characterstics. They were dancing like there was no yesterday, there is no today and certainly there would be no tomorrow.

The best part of this whole scene was that while Indian Ocean was singing Hai Tamasha Ye Kya, we could see tamasha just in front of us. There were several groups of people dancing like Dharmender, Jeetender, Bhagwan dada, and other Bollywood celebraties.

That’s a part of free concerts.

The show ended at 10 pm and I was down with 4 mugs of Beer and 2 Tequila shots by 1am.

Finding a nice place to booze will feature in another blog.(If I plan to write that one)

PS:-I am again net-less at home.
